Schema Therapy
(Recommended for persistent psychological distress such as long depression, chronic anxiety, personality disorders and complex trauma)
Schema Therapy is an integrative, evidence-based approach designed to help individuals understand and transform long-standing patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving that keep them feeling stuck.
It is rooted in attachment theory, Gestalt therapy, psychodrama, psychotherapy, and cognitive-behavioural theory, Schema Therapy explores the “schemas” — patterns often originating from unmet emotional needs in childhood — that shape how we perceive ourselves, others, and the world.
The goal is not only to relieve symptoms but also to bring about lasting change by addressing the underlying causes of emotional and relational difficulties. Schema Therapy is particularly effective for entrenched issues and deep-seated emotional distress.
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
ERP is designed for treating OCD and anxiety disorders. It contains two parts, exposure and ritual prevention. In ERP treatment, we target the compulsions which are behaviours/actions people do physically or mentally to relief the anxiety associated with intrusive thoughts/images. Through exposure, you will learnt ways of how to effectively ignore your OCD to break the loop of suffering, by allowing your body to habituate, you will build up new neuro pathway so your anxiety associated with OCD will ultimately extinct.
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
(Recommended for self-harm, suicidal thoughts, and difficulties with emotional regulation)
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is a form of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) that centres on skills training. DBT consists of four main modules: mindfulness skills, distress tolerance skills, emotion regulation skills, and interpersonal effectiveness skills. Through short- to medium-term therapy, clients learn to apply these skills under professional guidance to better navigate life’s challenges.
As a DBT trained therapist, I currently deliver individual DBT session to clients who are diagnosed with borderline personality disorder & Eating Disorders (Bulimia & Binge Eating Disorder). Development of the Group DBT is currently underway.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
(Recommended for mild depression, anxiety, and less complex clinical presentations)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a therapeutic approach that helps you move beyond negative emotions and thoughts in a meaningful way. Its core principles are:
Acceptance: Recognizing that your thoughts and emotions are natural responses to specific situations.
Commitment: Making life changes that align with your personal values.During ACT, you will learn to see emotions as part of the human experience and practice new ways of thinking that support your individual life goals. Unlike some other therapies, ACT often incorporates a flexible and playful approach.
